Chefs for Kids’ Cancer - NYC

    Marian Cheng

    Co-founder, Mimi Cheng's

Mimi Cheng’s serves authentic, delicious Taiwanese dumplings, made with co-founders’ Hannah and Marian’s mom’s secret family recipe. The sisters bring their childhood dumplings to New Yorkers, true to the sustainable and locally sourced ingredients they grew up on, and the pleasures of a home-cooked meal. By both honoring traditions and putting their own modern, healthy spin on good food fast, Mimi Cheng’s is an unprecedented concept in Asian cooking, connecting friends and family together around the kitchen table. Mimi Cheng’s serves monthly specials that feature unexpected fillings in addition to their traditional signature flavors, Previous collaborators for the rotating specials include chef Daniel Humm (Make It Nice), Blue Hill’s wastED, Missy Robbins (Lilia), Mike Bagale (Alinea), Sarah Hymanson and Sara Kramer (Kismet), Danny Bowien (Mission Chinese Food), Emily, Mile End and Sir Kensington’s -- among many others.

Hannah found her path to dumplings by way of Wall Street. With a degree from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, Hannah worked on the trading floor at J.P. Morgan in Interest Rates Sales for almost eight years. Marian has previously held positions in chef Alex Stupak’s Empellon group and at fast-casual salad empire Sweetgreen. In 2014, Hannah and her sister Marian opened the first Mimi Cheng's in New York's East Village, serving the authentic, delicious Taiwanese dumplings they grew up with. In 2016, Mimi Cheng’s expanded to their second location in Nolita. They’ve also been featured in notable media outlets including Bon Appetit, Vogue, New York Magazine, and Forbes. In 2018, Marian was recognized in Forbes 30 Under 30.
