19 Years of Baking a Difference
For 19 years, the Charlotte Area Citywide Bake Sale has brought together communities across Charlotte, Fort Mill and the surrounding areas for one reason: to help fund childhood cancer research. What started as a local effort in Charlottean Amy Christenberry’s front yard has become a longtime community tradition, with local bakeries, businesses, volunteers and neighbors coming together to make a difference for kids facing cancer.
And 19 years later, there’s still plenty of reason to keep baking.
Every year in the United States, approximately 15,000 children are diagnosed with cancer. While research has led to important advances, many children still face limited treatment options and therapies that can cause serious long-term side effects. That’s why funding research for new, improved and less toxic treatments is so important.
