About Bake a Difference

Bake a Difference is a national bake sale campaign that invites individuals, families, schools, and groups to fund childhood cancer research by hosting a bake sale — without the stress of baking everything yourself.

There are so many ways to Bake a Difference between now and the end of the year — and getting involved is easier than ever. Whether you’re ready to rally around cookies, bring your community together or simply help spread the word, there’s a way for everyone to make an impact. Choose what works for you and help us fund more research and more hope for kids facing cancer.

How it Works

1. Register & Secure Your Cookies

When you sign up, you’ll enter your credit card information to reserve your cookie box. This card is used only as a backup to ensure the fundraising commitment is met.

Each participant commits to raising $100 by the end of the calendar year.

2. Receive Your Cookies

We’ll send you a box of 50 individually wrapped cookies to get you started, ready to sell or share at your bake sale, workplace, school, or community event. Cookies arrive packaged and prepared — no baking required.

3. Fundraise & Share

You’ll receive a personal online fundraising page that makes it easy for friends, family, and your community to donate. Share your page via text, email, and social media, or collect donations in person alongside your cookies.

4. Meet Your Fundraising Commitment

Raise at least $100 by year’s end through your fundraising page.

  • If you meet or exceed the goal, your credit card is not charged.
  • If the $100 commitment is not met, your card will be charged the remaining balance to reach the minimum.

5. Make an Impact

All funds raised support Cookies for Kids’ Cancer’s mission to fund research focused on better, safer treatments for children fighting cancer.

Why Bake a Difference?

Cookies have been part of our story from the very beginning. After 2-year-old Liam Witt was diagnosed with childhood cancer, his parents, Gretchen and Larry, learned just how urgently better, less toxic treatments were needed. Determined to help, they rallied 250 volunteers to bake and sell 96,000 cookies, raising more than $420,000 for pediatric cancer research.

What began as one bake sale sparked a movement. Today, every cookie baked, shared and sold carries that same idea forward: something as simple as a cookie can help fund better treatments and brighter futures for kids facing cancer.

Double Your Impact + More!

Our friends at OXO have jumped in to support the Bake a Difference campaign by matching dollar for dollar what is raised. You’ll see your donations matched automatically up to $100,000.

Another way to get involved and help kids with cancer is to bake your treats and share them on social media using #BakeADifference and #OXOGoodCookies and tagging @OXO, as well as @cookies4kids. OXO will be donating $1 for every cookie shared – so let’s get baking
