As August ends, we’re getting ready to kick off Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to come together, raise awareness and take action for children fighting cancer. There are so many ways you can make an impact. By getting involved with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, you help fund new, improved and less toxic treatments for childhood cancer.
The Facts
Awareness is the first step, and a very important one. Cancer is the #1 disease killer of children in the United States. Each day, 47 kids are diagnosed with cancer. The cancers children are diagnosed with are unique to them, not smaller versions of adult cancers. Only seven of the more than 200 FDA-approved cancer treatments are designed specifically for kids. For some kids, the treatment is as harmful as the disease and can cause lifelong effects. Every statistic represents a child, a family and a future worth fighting for. That’s why this September is about doing more than learning the facts; it’s about making a difference.
How YOU Can Help Spread Awareness
This September, it’s easy to spread awareness. For a donation of $30, we’ll send you a gold bow to display in your neighborhood or community. You can also receive 5 gold ribbon pins for a donation of $10 to show your support wherever you go.
100% of donations go directly toward funding childhood cancer research. So what are you waiting for? Get your friends, family and community involved, then share your gold with us on social media by tagging us (@cookies4kids). We can’t wait to see you paint your community gold this September.
Other Ways to Get Involved
While awareness is an important first step, there are many ways to take action and get involved.
One of the easiest and most impactful ways to make a difference is by hosting a bake sale. Gather your friends, family, classmates, coworkers or neighbors and turn cookies into hope for kids fighting cancer. Every bake sale helps fund the research needed to develop safer, more effective treatments for children.
Not a baker? No problem! You can purchase delicious Cookies for Kids’ Cancer cookies to enjoy yourself or send as a meaningful gift to someone else. Every purchase directly supports childhood cancer research.
Have an idea of your own? Start your own fundraiser! Whether it’s a birthday fundraiser, a sports tournament, a school spirit week, a fitness challenge or another creative idea, we love seeing supporters use their passions to make an impact.
You can also attend a Cookies for Kids’ Cancer event or organize one of your own. No idea is too big or too small. From community gatherings and restaurant partnerships to workplace fundraisers and school events, every effort helps move us closer to a world where every child has access to better treatments and brighter futures.
There is no one right way to get involved. Whatever you choose to do this Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, know that every dollar raised, every conversation started and every person you inspire helps create a brighter future for kids with cancer.
Together, we can turn awareness into action and make a real difference in the lives of children and families everywhere. Have an idea or want help getting started? Contact emily@beagoodcookie.org. We’d love to help you bring your ideas to life.
