For the members of Little Queens for a Cause, giving back is just as important as having fun. The youth-led group was created to teach young girls the value of serving their community while building friendships and making lasting memories together.
The idea began with a series of Saturday gatherings for the daughters of family and friends, filled with activities like outdoor movie nights and other get-togethers. As the group grew, the organizers wanted to add a meaningful service component that would allow the girls to help children and families in need.
With the encouragement of their 15-year-old niece, Londyn, the vision quickly came to life. Londyn took the lead in searching for a community service opportunity, and together with her aunt, helped establish Little Queens for a Cause. When they discovered Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, they knew they had found the perfect first project.
For their inaugural fundraiser, the group hosted a community bake sale that brought together family, friends, neighbors and local businesses to support childhood cancer research.
The event’s success was fueled by the enthusiasm of the young volunteers themselves. Having Londyn lead and mentor the elementary school-aged girls inspired others to get involved, and the community embraced the opportunity to support children helping other children.
Their biggest takeaway? Community makes all the difference.
A local woman-owned business, Moxie Mercantile, donated space for the bake sale in a busy neighborhood location, helping attract supporters throughout the day. After the fundraiser, everyone gathered for a cookout, turning the event into a celebration of generosity, connection and connection.
“Hosting a bake sale is a lot of fun and provides an opportunity to bond with old friends and make new friends while supporting a great cause,” the group shared.
Although this was their first fundraiser, Little Queens for a Cause is already planning what’s next. Their story is a reminder that you’re never too young to make a difference, and that when young people are empowered to lead, they can inspire an entire community to take action.
