From the Classroom to the Community: Real-World Leadership for K–12 Students That Makes A Difference
At Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, we believe anyone — no matter their age — can make a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer. Whether it’s raising awareness, starting conversations or hosting a fundraising event to help fund new, improved and less toxic treatments.
That’s the spirit behind our Student Leadership Program. Designed for students in grades K–12, the program empowers young people to take action in their schools and communities. From bake sales to school-wide fundraisers, these students are proving that you’re never too young to spark change.
Through our Student Leadership Program, students from elementary school all the way through high school are making a real impact in the fight against childhood cancer. Whether they’re organizing a bake sale or leading a school-wide fundraiser, these young changemakers are proving that you’re never too young to make a difference. Our Student Leadership Program provides opportunities for grades K-12 to get involved and advocate for pediatric cancer research.
Elementary and Middle School
By understanding the importance of teamwork, responsibility and giving back early on, elementary and middle school students develop a strong foundation for future success during these formative years. Elementary school participants can get involved by coloring signs, helping at bake sales and supporting events in fun hands-on ways. Middle schoolers take on increased responsibility by assisting with organizing fundraisers and leading activities. Through guided leadership opportunities, students can gain valuable experience while making a real difference in the fight against childhood cancer.
High School
For high school students, the leadership program offers the chance to dive deeper. Members will participate in at least one campaign a year, engage with peers across the country to share ideas and network, raise awareness through community outreach and lead their own grassroots event.
You will learn:
-
Initiative: Take charge by identifying opportunities, starting projects and driving fundraisers from concept to completion.
-
Time management: Balancing school, extracurriculars and leadership roles, you will learn to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
-
Leadership: Lead teams and coordinate events, gaining real-world experience guiding others toward a common goal.
Participation in the program also looks great on college applications, as it demonstrates civic engagement, commitment to a cause and leadership experience that admissions teams love to see.
