Kids Helping Kids: How Young Fundraisers Are Making a Big Impact
Here at Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, we love seeing kids get involved — because when kids help kids, something amazing happens. Whether it's a bake sale, a dodgeball tournament, or a funky hat day at school, we’ve seen young people bring big ideas to life in the sweetest ways.
These aren’t just fundraisers — they’re moments of leadership, teamwork and heart. And they’re proof that no matter how young you are, you can still make a big impact.
We put the FUN in FUNdraising.
Every idea is welcome, and every effort counts. Maybe it's hosting a bake sale with your family, rallying your class for a cookie-themed spirit day or donating your birthday. However you choose to get involved, we’ll make sure it’s fun, age-appropriate, and full of meaning.
No idea is too small.
Kids across the country are making a difference through simple yet powerful actions. Meet some kids who’ve made a BIG impact.
Sam Rosenberg and his friend Evan started organizing lacrosse fundraisers when they were just 13, as part of their Bar Mitzvah projects. What started back then has continued to grow — and now, as college students, Sam just held his first bake sale on campus!
Olivia Jones chose to donate her birthday and raised $820 for pediatric cancer research. Inspired to make a difference, she asked for donations in lieu of gifts—turning her celebration into a powerful act of kindness.
Sam Bobker got the idea to help his favorite charity while at an NHL game with his mom. After doing play-by-play commentary to help her follow the game, nearby moms shared how helpful it was — sparking an idea. Sam created a guide to help hockey parents understand the game, using it as a fundraiser.

Ber and Lizzie Vandermeer are a sibling duo who’ve been involved with the cause since they were old enough to walk! From hosting bake sales to organizing 5K fundraisers, they’ve worked with their family to raise funds and awareness.
Daniela Ortiz has been hosting bake sales for 9 years (and counting) and has raised over $100,000. When her mother was diagnosed with cancer, she began to understand just how unimaginable it must be for a family when it’s a child facing the disease.
At the heart of it all? Kids helping kids.
With our easy-to-use resources, fundraising kits and one-on-one support, we make it simple for kids (with a little help from grown-ups!) to turn their ideas into action. Together, we’re showing that philanthropy is within reach for everyone. Whether they want to host a bake sale, organize a fun event, or donate their birthday, we’re here to help bring their ideas to life.
