Meet Drew Slocum. Our sweet baby boy was diagnosed with Infantile Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the young age of 5 1/2 months old in April of 2013.

He bravely battled almost 2 years of his treatment protocol (requiring multiple long hospital admissions and totaling 9 different intense chemotherapy drugs) with the most amazing spirit, humor and strength. We were 3 months shy of completing his treatment when his usual playful and happy demeanor slowly diminished. We feared relapse but bone marrow tests all returned okay. They said, “He must be fighting a virus.” Sadly, that’s exactly what it was. We lost Drew very suddenly on January 2, 2015 at 2 years old and later came to realize that a virus did in fact attack his little heart, leading to the heart failure that took him.

We know Drew would’ve had a different outcome if there was better funding for pediatric cancer research to improve the intense chemotherapy treatment protocols that our kids receive. Help us to “stay in the fight” to support Cookies for Kids’ Cancer to improve outcomes for others facing this horrible cancer fight.
